Coca is harvested by pickers called “razpachines.” The basic technique is to straddle the coca bush, then strip the leaves with rapid thrusts of the hands. The plucked leaves are collected, weighed, and sold onward to processors who convert it to coca paste, an intermediary step before it becomes cocaine. Putumayo, Colombia.
